Plectorhinchus sp.

The sweetlips are frequent hosts of the reefs and some are emblematic of the coral fauna.

The giant of the family is the giant sweetlip, plectorhinchus obscurus, but other species are also of decent size, such as the brown sweetlip p. gibbosus, and when they respond to stalking, it’s hard to stay indifferent.

Fortunately for them, they are almost all inedible, and its recommended to ignore all of them, except for underwater photo or videography, of course.

An exception would be p. multivittatus, manylined sweetlip that would be better to consume than the others.
